Saroja has been a significant contributor to the Emmy award-winning, National Film Board of Canada production, HIGHRISE – a collaborative, multi-year documentary project and academic study. Here, she worked as community-media facilitator, story developer and video editor from 2009 – 2015.

From 2010 – 2015, Saroja also coordinated media workshops and resident-led research in a Rexdale tower neighbourhood,  fostering long-term partnerships with local organizations and frontline service workers. This work blossomed into larger reenvisioning projects involving the City’s Tower Renewal office, academics, NFB animators, web developers, students, E.R.A architects and community members. The participatory projects that emerged from this collaboration shed light on the lived experiences of tenants who were facing, displacement, social stigmatization, poor housing conditions, lack of accessibility to social services and transit.
